Take the poll

I'd like to say thank you to all of my supporters in the 2009 election cycle. The incredible outpouring of support has been encouraging, and heart warming. This website, and our message of small government, accountability, transparency, and accessability will remain online. The issues may change, but governing philosophy and values should not.

We have 2 years to build on the momentum generated in 2009. Keep me in your thoughts, and reccomend this website to friends. I will be endeavoring to do the same. Only with your help and assistance will this effort succeed.

Until we meet, I bid you peace, and health.

-Aaron Tweedie

I am honest, hard working, and sincere in my efforts to enlist your support. I pledge to represent YOU, my fellow Virginians, and be humbly, as well as faithfully, at your service.

Why am I running for 29th District of VA as an Independent?

1. I believe the intense partisan political climate at state, and national levels does not adequately represent the majority of voters.

The majority of legislative voting is cast along party lines, and partisanship cannot adequately reflect the will of constituents, in any district. Decisions must be for the common good of all constituents, regardless of an elected representative’s party affiliation.  I feel a duty and obligation to be of service to my fellow citizens and represent them in a non-partisan capacity.

2. I believe major faults found in many pieces of legislation are due to a lack of effort on the part of our lawmakers.

Remember the VA highway funding bill which imposed unbearably stiff penalties on VA state drivers, and has since been repealed due to widespread public anger.

One must ask: How did this piece of legislation ever pass the VA general assembly?

Answer: Either our elected representatives did not take the time to read this legislation, which would constitute a gross dereliction of duty, or they are so out of touch with voters, that thought was not given to how this legislation would affect the average person.

This is a prime example that many legislators have held office far too long, leading to a sense of complacency, and inadequate representation of constituent interests. The voters of VA deserve honest effort on the part of their elected representatives.

3. I believe we need true public servants, not career politicians.

In order for democracy to be perpetually made more perfect, we need new faces in elected positions every 4-8 years. Finding new talent, motivated by ideals, but rooted in realism, ensures the progression of a legacy enacted by those founding fathers who intended to make “a more perfect form of government”.

4. Now more than ever, the American public needs strong , honest, upright leaders.

Too often scandals emerge exposing our elected representatives as poor role models, and even worse leaders. I believe it is the duty and obligation of any person who has the ability, and capacity to lead, to step forward and contribute their talent, passion, and time for the purpose of rebuilding the public’s faith in government.
